Jewellery Care
Caring for your jewellery is important as it ensures that your treasured items are kept in their best condition.
The Annie Broadway Black pieces have been treated to produce a black finish. This finish is designed to fade and wear over time. The speed with which the finish will fade is determined by lifestyle. We recommend removing your rings when carrying out any heavy manual labor. The black finish can be reapplied upon request - please contact us for more details.
When caring for your jewellery, always make sure that items are stored separately to avoid scratching and tangling.
Gemstones including diamonds are prone to chipping or breaking if they are knocked. To avoid this it is therefore important to remove all jewellery whilst performing heavy manual tasks. Exposure to salt water and chemicals such as bleach, chlorine and other harsh cleaning agents will adversely affect precious metals and gemstones and therefore must be avoided.
Your jewellery should be cleaned regularly to avoid build-up of dirt and oils around
your diamonds. Annie Broadway Jewellery Design Studio provides a professional cleaning service and recommend that you see us for cleaning of your jewellery once a year. If this is not possible then we recommend you clean your diamond jewellery regularly by soaking overnight in an ammonia-based household cleaner such as window cleaner, then removing and brushing carefully with a soft toothbrush.
We recommend jewellery that is set with gemstones be checked by us at least once per year. Naturally your jewellery is prone to damage as you wear it in your daily life, this can lead to your settings being compromised, especially claw settings.
Sterling silver jewellery may tarnish over time, this process occurs as a result of a reaction with sulphur containing substances in the air. To remove tarnish from silver jewellery a silver cleaning cloth can be used in addition to silver cleaning liquid solutions. If your silver jewellery has a matte surface finish, then the use of a liquid cleaning solution is the best option.
Blackened or oxidized sterling silver has been treated to provide this surface finish. The blackening of silver is designed to fade over time, Annie Broadway Jewellery Design Studio is happy to re-blacken your jewellery pieces if you require. Please note you cannot use a polishing cloth or use any liquid cleaning solutions on blackened jewellery as this will remove the blackened finish.
If you have any questions or concerns relating to caring for your special pieces, please do not hesitate to contact us.
